The governance of the Comparative and International Education Society of Canada (CIESC) is entrusted to its Executive, which ensures continuity, accountability, and strategic direction. Policy is established collectively by members at the Annual General Meeting (AGM), reinforcing the Society’s democratic foundation. The Executive comprises the President, Vice-President (serving as President-Elect), Immediate Past-President, Secretary-Treasurer, a Member-at-Large (Programme Chair), and 1-3 additional Members-at-Large, who assume specific responsibilities such as communications, outreach, student engagement, or awards. Officers are elected from among regular members in good standing, with terms designed to balance renewal and stability: two years for the President, Vice-President, and Member-at-Large, and three years for the Secretary-Treasurer. Each officer carries distinct duties defined by the Constitution. The Executive Committee provides leadership in promoting comparative and international education in Canada and globally. It also liaises with other national and international societies and organizations, including the Canadian Society for the Study of Education (CSSE), World Council for Comparative Education Societies (WCCES), and UNESCO, to advance common objectives.
